Rigger offers two types of installation tools; mechanical and hydraulic. There are additional items included depending on the type of completion i.e. cemented or non cemented liners or gravel pack installations.
Mechanical
There are two types of running tools to mechanically set the RIGGER liner hanger: a standard setting tool (pictured) and an off bottom tool to suspend the liner in tension without setting it on bottom. Both setting tools are equipped with a square kelly mandrel which telescopes through a releasing nut. Setting of the hanger is accomplished by right hand rotation of the running tool attached to the work string. This enables the slips to be released from the slip pockets to engage the inside of the casing and hang the liner. Setting with the standard mechanical running tool is accomplished by placing the liner on bottom and rotating six turns to the right, which moves the hanger slips out to contact the casing. The work string is then picked up until the liner hanger is spaced at the desired depth in the hole. The work string is then slacked off and the liner hanger takes the weight of the liner. With the kelly in the neutral position, the running tool is released from the liner hanger by rotating twelve turns to the right,. When using the off-bottom drag spring assembly (not pictured) the liner is run to the desired depth to position the liner hanger. The work string is then rotated six turns to the right, which moves the slips out to contact the casing. The work string is lowered to the neutral positiion on the kelly and rotated an additional twelve turns to the right to release from the hanger.
